March 20, 2009, Newsletter Issue #140: Choose Products With Sunscreen Mixed In

Tip of the Week

The best anti aging rule to abide by is to avoid the sun whenever possible. Some sun exposure is good as it helps your body create vitamin D, which cultivates calcium and phosphorus in your bloodstream. However, excessive sun exposure can cause skin cancer, age spots and premature aging. There are two types of rays generated by the sun: UVB and UVA.

The UVB rays are the ones that cause sunburn. UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin and cause it to break down deep inside. This is what accounts of tough, leathery-looking skin. For the best anti-aging regimen, wear sunscreen every day. Make sure it protects against both UVB and UVA rays, with an SPF of 15 or higher. Reapply every few hours, especially if you are in the water.

For convenience, choose skin care products that have sunscreen already mixed in, so you are protected each time you are exposed to sunlight.
